Is it normal for sliding pvc doors to mist up?

It is completely normal for your uPVC sliding patio doors to mist up from time to time. There are 3 ways in which the windows can mist up:

  • From the outside – the most common occurrence – this happens due to your window performing highly or having a low u-Value, meaning that it keeps the heat in whilst deflecting the cold air on the outside
  • From the inside – another common occurrence – this usually happens due to poor ventilation throughout the home, the easiest way to fix that is to increase the airflow by opening a window
  • Condensation built up between the two glass panes - this is a major indicator that suggests your double glazing may not be functioning as it should, which is reason for concern. In this instance, it is best to call a professional.

How to hang a curtain rod above a sliding door?

Hanging a curtain rod for sliding glass doors may differ a bit compared to hanging curtains above other windows or doors. We break down the 3 simple steps you will need to follow to hang your curtains above your patio doors:

  • Step 1 – Measure the doors, if you have a tall sliding door you will need more material. Locate the door's centre and add a pencil mark there just above the wall. Then, mark 4 inches above the door frame and 2 inches from each side of the door.
  • Step 2 - Drill holes in the pencil-marked points. Drilling the holes requires using a drill bit that is smaller than the drywall anchors. In this manner, the anchors are set and prevent pulling out of the wall. After that, holes must be drilled through the brackets and into the anchors for the screws. The middle bracket needs to be attached after that is finished.
  • Step 3 – It is important to not tighten the screws right away after mounting the centre bracket. The curtain rod needs to be levelled before the screws are tightened. We recommend tapping the rod on the top and bottom sides to confirm that it is straight. You can tighten the screws after completing these steps.

After completing these 3 steps, all that is left to do is hang the curtains from the curtain rod.
