How to Install Aluminium Sliding Doors

With our helpful guide, installing your aluminium sliding doors will be a breeze! Make sure you follow all the steps correctly and always be thorough and safe as you work – a safe installation is a good installation!

BEFORE YOU START

Before you start the installation, you should always be sure to ensure that you have all of the components you need. In the rare instance that anything is missing or damaged, please do not hesitate to contact us and we can get the right parts to you as soon as possible.

You should also check all dimensions of the outer frame before starting, just to ensure that it correctly fits the opening in the brickwork without being forced into place.

INSTALLING THE CILL

1. Make sure that the cill is totally level – you can use packers where necessary to make the cill more level.
2. Bed the cill on silicone and fix it through the back edge.

INSTALLING THE OUTER FRAME

1. Position the frame in the opening on top of the cill. Ensure that it is totally level, plumb, and square.
   • TOP TIP: You can make sure that the frame is square by measuring the two diagonals – there shouldn’t be more than a 1-2mm difference between these two measurements.
2. Fix the frame in place. The first fixings should be within 150mm of each corner.
   • TOP TIP: Don’t screw through the drainage holes, as these need to stay uncovered.
   • TOP TIP: Don’t overtighten your fixings! We also recommend using packers for each fixing, so that the frame does not get distorted.
3. Fix the frame into the brickwork along either side and at the top. Make sure to double check the diagonals, just so that you know they’re still equal.
4. Check that the leafs slide smoothly!

INSTALLING THE GLASS

1. Simply lift the glass panel into place and fit using packers.
   • TOP TIP: You can use extra packers where required to ensure that the panel is totally level and plumb.
